Widemouth's Artwork!

For our topic we have been learning about Paul Klee. The children learnt skills with paintbrushes and oil pastels which they used to create these pieces. Our main focus for this topic was to understand mixing and blending colours which the children have thought about to create interesting artwork.

Our topic this term has been on Germany and we have made our own topic books which will contain all the things we have learnt.

We have also used our computing skills to create our own front covers.  Have a look at our slideshow below to see some of them.

Combining ICT with Art

We have been learning in ICT to manipulate images.  Using the work of Andy Warhol as an inspiration,we drew a tin of Heinz Tomato Soup and then scanned it in and repeated the images.  Then we coloured it to give it a 'pop-art effect'.

Our Reading Journals - September 27th

We have been commenting our reading journals since the beginning of term.  These are special books in which we record our responses to what we are reading.  Mr Whitefield selects some of the best entries and publishes them on the website and puts them on display in the school corridor.  We hope you enjoy our responses to our reading!

New class - new artwork

Our first topic of the year has been 'Great Artists'.  In Widemouth, we have been learning about Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.  We have used these artists as inspiration for our own pop art self-portraits.

The display in our classroom  shows the self-portraits next to the photograph of the artist.
