Starting school in Reception.
Our Reception class is called Sandymouth and is taught by Mrs Moyle. We liaise closely with our feeder nurseries and childminders to support transition.
We hold meetings with parents in the summer term before children start. We focus on readiness for school. Starting school is an exciting milestone for children and their families. To help make the transition into Reception as smooth and positive as possible, we encourage you to share Starting Reception with families whose children will be starting school in September. www.startingreception.co.uk
You can include links in communications to parents and carers, and/or print the information and share hard copies at welcome evenings, stay-and-play sessions and home visits. You can also add your school logo to the printed version for families.
This logo will take you and your families straight to the guidance on a phone.
Starting Reception is a free, practical online resource designed to support parents and carers in preparing their child for school. It offers simple activities, helpful advice and clear guidance on the key skills and routines that help children feel confident and ready for their first day.
