Dear Parents/Carers,

London Residential 2017

Thank you for responding to my letter that I sent yesterday.  Due to the tragic events in London at the weekend, the overwhelming majority of parents no longer wish their children to take part in the London residential.  Therefore, the residential will no longer go ahead.

I apologise if you wanted your child to take part but am sure you understand that the numbers who wished to go were too small to make the trip viable.  Furthermore, although current guidance from the Home Office is that trips to London may still go ahead, the local authority, whilst allowing trips to continue at the moment, is recommending individual schools make decisions that are right for them following consultations with parents.

I understand that the London residential was the last chance for children in the current Year Six to have a memorable trip with their classmates, so we are currently planning some activities and experiences which will take place instead of the cancelled trip to London.  These experiences will take place at or close to school, yet I hope that they will still give your children some great memories.

Obviously with the cancelling of the trip I will start the process of trying to recoup money the school has paid out.  I will be in contact in the next few days with details of any refunds we will be able to offer and how these will be arranged.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come and see me, send me an email or give me a call.

Thank you for your continued support in what has been an understandably worrying time for you and your families.

Yours faithfully,
